Preferences in Purple Finch |

The map below illustrates observer estimates of the seed crop abundance in areas where Purple Finch were reported.
Participants were asked to estimate the abundance of wild foods in their postal code. Wild
foods were: cones, berries, and seeds. Individuals could rate the abundance of each wild
food as heavy, moderate, or low. Only reports with estimates of wild food abundance
were used to generate the maps.
Greater than 87% of all Common Redpoll reports came from
areas where the seed crop abundance was either moderate or heavy.
The pie chart shows what Common Redpolls were feeding on when not at bird feeders.
