Preferences in Pine Grosbeak |

The map below illustrates observer estimates of the seed crop abundance in areas where Pine Grosbeak were reported.
Participants were asked to estimate the abundance of wild foods in their postal code. Wild
foods were: cones, berries, and seeds. Individuals could rate the abundance of each wild
food as heavy, moderate, or low. Only reports with estimates of wild food abundance
were used to generate the maps.
Greater than 52% of all Pine Grosbeak reports came from
areas where the berry crop abundance was either moderate or heavy.
The pie chart shows what Pine Grosbeaks were feeding on when not at bird feeders.
