Distribution: Breeds in mountains of Arizona and southeastern New Mexico south into western Mexico. Common in thick fur/spruce woods mixed with oaks, at elevations of 6,000 to 6,600 ft. Winters from Mexican highlands through Central America. Though rarely migrates, occasionally seen in foothills below breeding areas. |

though may face logging threats. Evidence of expansion of breeding range during the 20th
century. |
